Former two-time boxing heavyweight champion of the world, Shannon Briggs, joins the show today. He's had 60 wins, 6 draws, and just 1 loss over his career with 53 KOs. After moving to Florida about 20 years ago, Mr. Briggs lives near Miami in Pembroke Pines and will be debuting (as soon as all of this is over) in his first bare-knuckle fight. We chat about why he is shifting toward tackling a new division of fighting and how he's adjusting his training in the age of coronavirus--especially in light of his particular health concern. Then, we'll get into how he's used the ring to overcome the many difficulties in his past and how he's looking toward the future and training others. After spending a few days in the hospital, Andrew took to Facebook Live to tell his story and then graciously agreed to share it here as well. Then, our storyteller today is Wilkine Brutus from West Palm Beach, a reporter with the Palm Beach Post who interviewed his mother, Paulette Francois, for a podcast project he did called A Boat A Voyage. It's her story of landing in Florida after her treacherous journey immigrating from Haiti. And, there are some interesting common threads between the subjects of this podcast--immigration, faith, ambition, and perseverance.
