To say Gerard is a man familiar with the power of words is an understatement. An attorney of over 20 years with a mastery of transactional law, Gerard now heads up GL Esquire Consulting in Miami, Florida. And, as a contributor to his community, Gerard Mr. Legagneur is on the Board of Directors of Guitars Over Guns, and various Harvard alumni clubs. He’s also an avid table tennis player, political commentator, writer and satirist. Oh, and he’s also our Founder, Jaime’s, brother!!

Gerard’s Full Bio:

Gerard Legagneur has 20 years of transactional corporate legal experience. He has a history of negotiating and closing multiple high-value transactions for private equity clients, including several health care-related transactions. He has also provided unique representation to various entrepreneurs in all corporate matters, from entity formation to deal and contract negotiations.

Mr. Legagneur has held Senior Attorney positions at the Miami offices of both McDermott, Will & Emery LLP and White and Case, LLP—both tier one law firms ranked in the top 40 for mergers & acquisitions. In his role as a Senior Attorney, he served as both purchaser’s and seller’s counsel for numerous sophisticated corporate transactions, including, mergers, acquisitions, and asset purchases of both public and private entities by private equity funds and strategic advisors. He has also provided general corporate representation for the acquired portfolio entities post-closing.

In his current role as the sole member of GL Esquire Consulting in Miami, Florida, Mr. Legagneur provides corporate legal expertise in connection with mergers and acquisitions, startup ventures, equity investments, entity formation, corporate governance, joint ventures, bank finance, and contract negotiation. He has also contributed and consulted on numerous legal publications for the Thomson Reuters Practical Law and Nolo online portals, including lending his legal expertise to Reuters as its primary legal advisor regarding the most recent changes to the Florida corporation laws.

Mr. Legagneur received his law degree in 2001 from the Columbia University School of Law, where he served as the Staff Editor for the Columbia Business Law Review and the Articles Editor for the National Black Law Journal. He earned his undergraduate degree in Economics (with Honors) from Harvard University in 1998.

Mr. Legagneur is on the Board of Directors of Guitars Over Guns, a Chicago and Miami-based nonprofit, and a member of the Harvard Club of Miami, the Harvard Black Alumni Society, and the Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs. Mr. Legagneur is also an avid table tennis player, political commentator, writer and satirist.
